Vancouver, B.C., March 12, 2014: Desert Star Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: DSR) (“Desert Star”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew T. Swarthout to the company’s advisory board. Mr. Swarthout is currently President and CEO of Bear Creek Mining as well as a Director of Sandstorm Gold Ltd. and Sandstorm Metals & Energy Ltd.

Prior to founding Bear Creek Mining Company, Mr. Swarthout was an officer and member of the management committee of Southern Peru Copper Corporation where he participated in decision making during a dynamic period of corporate expansions, financing and project development. As vice-president of exploration for Southern Peru Copper from 1995 to 2000, he was directly responsible for two new major discoveries, as well as reserve expansions on the order of 200 per cent on the company’s two porphyry copper deposits.

Mr. Swarthout has participated in several deposit discoveries and reserve expansions in North America and South America, which are in production or will be placed into production in the future. Mr. Swarthout has a career history of successful ore deposit discoveries and management of negotiations for the acquisition of projects in Latin America and the U.S. Mr. Swarthout has participated in project permitting and financing, as well as managing several prefeasibility and financial scoping studies and has evaluated reserves on numerous precious and base metals deposits. Prior to this, Mr. Swarthout was the exploration manager (Mexico) for Kennecott Copper.
