Vancouver, B.C., February 26, 2013: Desert Star Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: DSR) (“Desert Star” or the “Company“) is pleased to provide an update on the Red Top, Copper King and Copper Springs projects located in Arizona (collectively, the “Arizona Projects“), and the Oro project located in New Mexico.

Arizona Projects

The Company has completed an initial phase of geological mapping and sampling at Copper King, and has identified extensive zones of quartz-sericite-pyrite and skarn alteration consistent with distal porphyry copper mineralization at the project. Numerous historical base metal workings have also been identified on the property. In addition, diorite porphyry dikes have been mapped, which intrude Apache Group stratigraphy and diabase sills, similar to the geologic setting at the nearby Resolution Copper-Molybdenum deposit*.

Desert Star expects to conduct an additional mapping campaign at Copper King and Red Top in March 2014. The objectives of this program will be to constrain drill-hole locations through detailed geological mapping and conduct an alteration study.

The Company is also working with geophysical consultants to determine the optimal geophysical programs to conduct at Copper King and Copper Springs, and expects to conduct these surveys in Q2 2014.

The Company has commenced the process for drill permitting at each of the Arizona Projects, and will provide an update in the near future on the expected timing to complete the permitting process for each project. The Arizona Projects contain multiple porphyry copper targets and are under option from Eurasian Minerals Inc. (TSX-V: EMX; NYSE MKT: EMXX).

Oro Project

The Company has re-examined drill core and analyzed historic drilling data at the Oro copper-gold porphyry project in New Mexico, and has identified a high priority porphyry copper target located below intense porphyry-style alteration (quartz-sericite-pyrite) exposed at surface. The target area is flanked by skarn alteration, disseminated to semi-massive pyrite, in addition to sporadic K-feldspar flooding associated with monzonite porphyry dikes and low-grade copper, which suggests a distal porphyry copper setting.

* There are no assurances that the geological similarities to the Resolution copper deposit will result in the establishment of any resource estimate at the Copper King project, or that the Copper King project can be advanced in a similar timeframe. The Copper King project is an early stage development project without any current resource estimates and there is no certainty that any such resource estimates will ever be established.
